getting things done (for kids)

I’ve been finishing up some things for the kids lately. First up, this wall hanging I made for my son. He’s interested in everything about the world, he’s constantly on the Maps app just randomly picking out places to look at and learn about. Making a wall hanging from pom poms has been something I’ve wanted to try for quite awhile, I think this was a perfect project to make as practise for what I’d like to eventually make.

I made thisΒ to look like his own little world. It took a lot of yarn to make! I enjoyed the process a lot though! The pom poms are attached to a non slip rug pad that I found at the dollar store. This would be a really good floor rug too but I wanted it to hang over his bed. I backed it with foam board so it wouldn’t be so flimsy. I’m so happy with it! He was really excited when I finally hung it up for him. Now I need to figure out my next pom pom project.

this is what I was doing with all the pom poms! It's a wall hanging for my son's room. He's very into world stuff, so I made this to look like his own little planet. 🌎 I'm really happy that it turned out just how I pictured it! Now I can mo

I also finally worked out some stuffed toy storage for my kids! Something I really should have gotten done months ago, they’ve been living with such messy rooms since we moved in.

For my daughter, I crocheted two hammocks out of some Bernat cotton. I added some pom pom yarn to make them less plain, I think it’s pretty fun! The pom pom yarn is from a discontinued line from Loops & Threads, I’ve had it for years and did nothing with it except use it for gift wrapping sometimes.

I put off making these for months but it's finally done... well almost, she needs a third 😐 my girl doesn't like to get rid of anything! #crochetersofinstagram #crochetgirlgang #craftastherapy #amigurumi #toymakers #ourmakerlife

My son also needed some storage for his stuffed animals. I knew he wouldn’t like the crocheted hammocks, so I just bought a couple sets of wire cubes and stacked them four high. Not crafty but walking by his room and seeing them finally organized makes me so happy! You can see a peek of his birthday blanket that I knit last year πŸ™‚

another kid's stuffed toy situation taken care of! I didn't do anything crafty this time but it's making me happy all the same πŸ˜„

Thanks for the visit today!

  2. What good storage ideas and very well executed. Love the Pom Pom hanging. Not seen the idea before but a friend of mine has just done a rug using the same principles.
