hello! Happy February! Life around these parts has been quiet for the most part, we’re being hit with cold weather again which is making me want to stay inside with my knitting or crochet. Tonight though, I am taking my daughter to our first high school open house, she has two that she really wants to check out this month. The whole choosing a high school is a new experience for me, so I have no real good advice to help her out unfortunately. I didn’t grow up in the city, so we just went to the school closest to us. We live right across from the school we’re checking out tonight, so that would be a very convenient place for her but I don’t think they have the programs she really wants, I’m hoping these open houses will make it easier for her to finally make a choice though.

I’ve also been trying to keep my mind as busy as I can. Last week I went to the Breast Center and I had a biopsy done. Phew, that felt strange to write out. I’m not really that worried about it being bad news but every so often those not so great feelings will creep in. I found a lump in my breast a couple days before Christmas, after a mammogram and ultrasound, the doctor told me it was a cyst, a big one that needed to be biopsied. So, last week I had that done, they actually took samples of two areas, the cyst and a suspicious looking area. I wasn’t expecting so much to be done, so that made me nervous, in total, they took 8 samples. The actual biopsy wasn’t painful but the next two days were a little painful. Next week, I go in for my results which I’m sure won’t say anything bad but it will be nice to have more information.

Anyway…. I have been doing a bit of everything really in the last month to keep my mind clear.

I’ve started and quit a few projects, these two are the ones still going so far. The socks I am knitting as a for my mom’s birthday, I’m using Paton’s Kroy in the Blue Raspberry colorway. I’m also doing some crochet, it’s a round ripple out of one of the Caron Big Cakes. I’m not a huge fan of the way the color is changing but I’m going to keep going and hopefully it will end up not bothering me too much when it’s done.

That’s about it today, the kids will be back from school soon and hopefully I’ll have some fresh bread ready for them from my new bread maker. It’s my first time using it, so fingers crossed that it turns out!

Talk later!

  1. Prayers going for all good news from the Dr.

We never got to choose out high school either. We went where we were told to. Times have changed.

I like the sock colorway. I also love the purple from the Caron Cake. I know those cakes change colorsnat the most inopportune times lol.

  2. I’ll be thinking of you while you wait for those results, and praying for the positive! I went through that 2 years ago, finding, waiting, biopsy, waiting, and having it removed (and thankfully with all good news too!)… you have the right attitude to get you through it all!

I’m loving your socks, that colorway is sitting in my to-do pile!

Good luck with the open houses, we’re doing the same thing this spring, but with my baby! yikes!
